This year, we have been delighted to partner with Hertfordshire Libraries, providing 300 Warm in Winter gift bags at their Falls Prevention, Slipper Swap events.

Held at 6 libraries across Hertfordshire, the Slipper Swaps are primarily an opportunity for people to learn how to prevent and manage falls. Attendees can swap their old slippers for a pair of free anti-slip slippers.

In addition, people can find out about local social groups and activities, get advice and information from professionals and book a Safe and Well visit from the Fire Service.

The Slipper Swaps are fantastic community events, promoting wellbeing and social connection, which is so important to vulnerable older people. Our gift bags work in exactly the same way and so we were extremely pleased to be able to support this initiative.

Our Purple Pages information packs include key information about how to prevent falls as well as exercises, provided by Herts Sport & Physical Activity Partnership, focusing on building strength and balance.

Chris Perera, Social Care Information Librarian for Hertfordshire Libraries commented, “During our popular Falls Prevention, Slipper Swap campaigns, Hertfordshire Library Service has had the opportunity to give out Winter Bags to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. Thank you Small Acts of Kindness for helping us make a real difference to people’s lives!”
