Warm this Winter

24 people die every day over the winter because their homes are cold (Centre for Ageing Better 2023)

Thousands of older people sit freezing, struggling to afford to heat their home. For some, our gift bags are a life saver, reaching those who are having to make the unimaginable choice between heating or eating. They are cold, lonely and isolated.

How many older people will you help to keep warm this winter?

You can help to heat the person, when they can't afford to heat their home by donating £35 today, for a Small Acts of Kindness Warm in Winter gift bag.

“All the contents are gratefully received and all will be used - all things to help us to get through this cold spell. We are going to have to keep heating costs down now!” - Warm in Winter gift bag recipient 2024

Every Warm in Winter gift bag contains essential, keep warm items including a fleece blanket, thermal hat, gloves and socks, hot drinks - tea, coffee and hot chocolate and porridge sachets. In addition the gift bag contains our Purple Pages information pack, which has carefully sourced information from national, county and local organisations, signposting to support. They are gifted FREE to those aged 55 and over.

Each Warm in Winter gift bag costs £35 to source, pack and distribute.

“I’m struggling. This will kill us by the end of the winter.” - Warm in Winter gift bag recipient

For an older person, the cold can have a devastating impact on their physical and mental health. Risks include raised blood pressure, stroke, heart attacks and falls. Being cold can lead to anxiety and depression. Our gift bags act as an intervention that can help to reduce the risks that older people face when they are cold.

A Warm in Winter gift bag helps an older person to feel warmer in their home, cared for and less lonely.

“I was thrilled and comforted by all the warm and good things in one small bag. It was magic.” - Warm in Winter gift bag recipient

8 million older people in the UK are worried about heating their home (The End Fuel Poverty Coalition 2022)
If you are worried about older people who will be cold this winter, then please donate £35 now, and help to make a difference, one small act of kindness at a time.

“I felt so alone until you came to my aid and your bag and contents really helped. My heart-felt thanks.”

Thank you
