Running her first ever half marathon, Ria’s extraordinary act of kindness was inspiring, raising an amazing amount of support and money to help make a difference.
We were absolutely delighted when Ria contacted us to let us know that she wished to raise money for Small Acts of Kindness, running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October 2023. Having never really run before, this was, by Ria’s own admission, a huge challenge for her so we were honoured to have been chosen as her charity and motivation to cross the finishing line.
Ria kept us updated throughout her training commenting, "I have been training for 3 months now. And to think I couldn’t even run 5k before! Thank you to everyone for all of your support and donations. It has inspired me to keep going and raise money for this wonderful charity".
The incredible support shown by everyone, including her employer Schroders, who offered to match fund what she raised is testament to her commitment  and perseverance.
The Royal Parks Half Marathon took place on 8th October 2023. Running on a particularly warm morning, Ria completed her first ever half marathon, raising over £5,000 for Small Acts of Kindness. An amazing achievement which will help us to continue making a difference to the lives of older people struggling to keep warm in their homes, many of whom are lonely and isolated.
Ria was overjoyed and told us, "I’m so happy! This is the hardest and biggest challenge I’ve ever done, but it is all so worth while. Thank you to everyone for all of your support. If you are ever thinking of running a half marathon or marathon, do it and do it for Small Acts".
We are hugely grateful to Ria, everyone who donated and Schroders for their generosity and kindness. If you are thinking of taking on a challenge and would like to support us, please get in touch! Let’s make a difference, one extraordinary act of kindness at a time.
