National recognition shining a light on Small Acts of Kindness

We are thrilled to announce that we are the 'Community Business of the Year' Silver Winner at the SME National Business Awards 2023. After achieving gold at the SME Hertfordshire Business Awards in September we were delighted to find out that we had been entered into the National Business Awards to be held at Wembley Stadium on 1st December.

Competing against 10 other finalists in the Community Business of the Year category from across the UK, we really looked forward to attending the black tie event and the exciting opportunity to connect with organisations from a wider network.

Our CEO, Lynne Misner was absolutely thrilled to

receive the Silver Winner award on behalf of Small Acts of Kindness. She commented ‘To receive national recognition for our work is truly humbling. Our achievements and the impact we have is a credit to the endless and quite incredible acts of kindness that our volunteers, partners, supporters and funders perform. Partnership working is at the core of what we do and this is reflected in the reach that we have throughout the communities with which we operate. It is an absolute privilege and honour to be recognised as a successful Community Business on a national platform and we share this wonderful award and extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who makes our work possible.’

The SME National Business Awards are made up of 20 categories that allow any successful business in the UK to enter these prestigious awards. All entries are judged by a national panel of judges. The Community Business category celebrates both Community Businesses and Not for Profit Organisations. What these businesses have in common is that their focus is on positively benefitting society.

Our Small Acts of Kindness family includes over 450 volunteers. We couldn’t do what we do without their kindness and support. Their small acts of kindness mean that we continue to reach thousands of vulnerable, older people helping them feel less lonely and isolated and better connected to their community.

Partnering with Hertfordshire Libraries, we provided 300 Warm in Winter gift bags for their successful Sipper Swap events.

Winter Fuel Payments

If you receive a Winter Fuel Payment but don’t need it, please think of someone who might and donate it to Small Acts of Kindness. For thousands the cold kills. Your donation will go directly towards items included in our Warm in Winter gift bags. For some, they could be a life saver.
A Small Act

This winter, we will be sourcing, packing and distributing 12,000 Warm in Winter gift bags, at a cost of £35 to us, helping to heat the person, when they can’t afford to heat their home. This means 12,000 older people will be warmer in their homes, happier and more connected to their community, one small act at a time. We need your help to make this happen. Please donate today and together we can connect communities with kindness.

PACKING DATES FOR 2022/23 COMING SOON We are delighted to invite you to help pack gift bags that will be given to local vulnerable older people across the County.

Please help us to make this Christmas special for older people across Hertfordshire who will be spending it on their own by donating Terry’s Chocolate Oranges. These will be included in the 500 Christmas gift boxes that we will be distributing.
