Warm this Winter Donate Fundraise 24 people die every day over the winter because their homes are cold (Centre for Ageing Better 2023) You can help to heat the person, when they can't afford to heat their home by donating today. By donating £35 for a Small Acts of Kindness Warm in Winter gift bag, you can help to keep an older person warm this winter. "The bag is the kindest thing I have ever had. The gift will make such a difference. I lost my heating allowance this winter and I was so cold. I was frightened to turn on the heating because of the cost and I was cold. I will use everything in the bag and I know that I now won’t be so cold next winter. It’s not a small act of kindness, it’s a huge act of kindness that will keep me warm over the winter months.” Thousands of older people sit freezing, struggling to afford to heat their home. For many, they face the almost unimaginable choice between eating and heating. As we reach 10 years of Small Acts of Kindness, with 10 years of working to keep older people warm in their homes, now more than ever we need your help, to continue making a difference. From our own data collection, we know that 76% of respondents to our feedback form included in their Warm in Winter gift bag said that the area affected by the rising cost of living was their heating, with 64% stating food. 65% of respondents said they sometimes/frequently feel cold in their home Every gift bag contains a fleece blanket, thermal socks, hat and gloves, soup, porridge and hot drinks, an activity book and pen and a useful pack of information offering support, help and advice. Gift bags are given free, to vulnerable, older people. For an older person, the cold can have a devastating impact on their physical and mental health. Risks include raised blood pressure, stroke, heart attacks and falls. Being cold can lead to anxiety and depression. Our gift bags act as an intervention that can help to reduce the risks that older people face when they are cold. A Warm in Winter gift bag helps an older person to feel warmer in their home, cared for and less lonely. “I was thrilled and comforted by all the warm and good things in one small bag. It was magic.” Gift bag recipient How many vulnerable older people can you help to keep warm this winter? Please donate today, and together we can make a difference, one small act of kindness at a time. Manage Cookie Preferences
