Corporate social responsibility

Businesses and the community

A report published by the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness (2017) said:
"Tackling loneliness is a generational challenge that can only be met by concerted action by everyone - governments, employers, businesses, civil society organisations, families, communities and individuals all have a role to play. Working together we can make a difference."

Our corporate partners are cherished members of the Small Acts of Kindness family. Their help and support have no boundaries – they always surprise us with their kindness and generosity. We draw huge strength and confidence knowing that they are right by our side on our exciting journey. Without their support, our work simply would not happen.

With their help, we have reached over 35,500 older people across Hertfordshire in the last five years. The average age of the recipients of our Warm in Winter gift bags is 82 years. Each one of these thousands of older people are now warmer in their homes and feel less lonely and isolated. Together we are certainly making a difference.

We invite you to join the Small Acts of Kindness family. As a corporate partner, your help could include:

  • Joining one of our packing days and help us pack our Warm in Winter gift bags

These fun filled sessions can be a great team activity and create an out of office opportunity to come together and make a difference.

  • Raising much needed funds

As the saying goes ‘every little helps’ - from making us your charity of the year, one off or regular gifts to individual fundraising activities or by including us in your Give as You earn scheme. You can be confident that your gifts will help some of the most vulnerable older people in our community

  • Sharing your professional skills with us

We are a small charity with a big impact and we welcome help in all key business areas – business development, digital marketing, fundraising, admin, databases, accounts, PR and marketing

We asked our partners to tell us why they help us and how it makes them feel and this is what they told us:

“Helping to pack bags was great team bonding but also worthwhile use of the time.”

“Even though we support Small Acts of Kindness from the monetary side, we wanted to also give our time to help this worthwhile charity.”

“I want to help those less fortunate than myself - I am fortunate that the company I work for also sees value in this and encourages us to take a day a year to volunteer.”

“I feel like I’m a very small part of something really worthy, something that’s making a difference to so many others and needed!”

“Really proud to do my bit for the community of Hertfordshire.”

What we can do for you

We have a unique partnership with each of our corporate supporters. How they want to help and what we can do to make that happen varies from organisation to organisation. We welcome the opportunity to talk about how we can work together with you.

There are lots of interesting articles about the positive impact that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has on an organisation. Here are two that caught our eye:

We are incredibly proud of all of our corporate partners and the support that they give us. We take every opportunity to share this pride with others. We are active on social media and have a great relationship with the press. It is always our absolute pleasure to share good news.

We look forward to welcoming you to our family.
